After graduating from Dartmouth College, Dr. William Trattler attended the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he graduated in 1992 with Distinction in Research. He did his ophthalmology residency at University of Pennsylvania's Scheie Eye Institute and completed a Cornea Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. Trattler joined the Center for Excellence in Eye Care in 1997, specializing in refractive, corneal, and cataract surgery. At the Center For Excellence, Dr. Trattler has continued his involvement in research concerning medications for dry eye, ocular inflammation, and ocular infections, as well as research on surgical devices. Dr. Trattler has authored many articles and books, including Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple, which is used by medical, nursing, and veterinary students throughout the world.
In April 2006, Dr. Trattler was named by his peers as one of the top 50 opinion leaders in Ophthalmology, in a national survey taken by Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today. He is a member of the Volunteer Faculty at Florida International University College of Medicine, and a consultant for Private Practice Miami.
